Website launch checklist: verify hosting before publishing DNS Drucken

A smooth launch is a sequence of checks rather than a single DNS change. Finish testing on the destination first, then make a controlled cutover with a way to return to the previous setup. For a shop or membership site, decide how new orders and account changes will be handled during the final data synchronization.

Recommended steps

  1. Confirm the destination document root, application configuration and database connection. Verify that production credentials are not accidentally replaced by development values or temporary preview settings.
  2. Test the homepage, navigation, search, contact forms and account login. Check image paths, file downloads and any scheduled background tasks. Test payment integrations using the payment provider's approved test workflow.
  3. Prepare HTTPS for every hostname that visitors will use. Check both the main domain and its www variant where applicable. Resolve certificate or mixed-content problems before enabling a permanent redirect.
  4. Export the current DNS zone and preserve mail-related records. Record the old web addresses and relevant TTL values so you understand the expected caching period and the rollback changes.
  5. Make a final backup and agree a cutover time. After updating the website records, monitor application logs, form delivery and real transactions, rather than relying only on the homepage appearance.

Keep the old hosting available until the new site is stable and the final data checks are complete. Document the changes and the responsible contact. A small launch checklist makes future migrations and emergency recovery much easier to repeat.
